What is a prop deflector

Prop Deflector (aka prop guard) is a unique stainless steel propeller deflector also designed to protect the propeller without restricting the overall performance of the engine and craft at speed. Prop deflector is developed and manufactured by BH Fabrications in the UK.

The construction is produced with laser cut stainless steel parts and the custom range deflector bars are made from aerofoil shaped tube, which reduces drag and the possibility of damage to the structure. Yet, it still offers incredible strength.

Prop Deflector was originally developed for the flood rescue sector and proved very successful in use by the rescue services, before expanding into commercial, defence and leisure market. It has been tested in extreme conditions and proved incredibly robust.

The RNLI found that in test, a craft using our prop deflector achieving a speed of 30 knots lost less than 5% overall speed with no manoeuvrability issues.

The ranges

Our custom range of prop deflectors currently covers outboard motors ranging from 8-250hp. Each prop guard model is a tailored fit to each engine combination. We also offer our customers with bespoke prop deflectors, solutions for special requirements.

Our PD range designed to universally fit for any outboard with propeller diameter 10”, 12”, 14”, 16” and in-between. It is more robust than any other prop guard on the market with maximum performance.
